I am a really huge fan of bees, I recently discovered a nest in between my window frame and while others may would have called someone to remove it I was happy about it and joked around. So this is their new home and I am a proud bee mamma!
So you know I already made a blogpost about honey and bees but now I am writing again about this special creatures but from another perspective. Bee`s do not only produce honey, they produce also wax. And this wax can be really useful for many things; pharmaceuticals, like cream and lotions, but also as a coating material for dragées, sweets and fruits. The wax can be used to make candles and even as a furniture polish.
Bee`s Wrap:
Sarah Kaeck discovered something else about beeswax, it can be used to make a reusable, washable and compostable alternative to plastic wrap.
She was looking for a healthier und more sustainable way to store food and she found it.
In the beginning she was doing it all by hand, in the meanwhile she has become a little more famous and to make sure to ship her products all around the world, she and her team designed a customed machine to coat their organic fabric with a mix of beeswax, organic jojoba oil and tree raisin.
My myself discovered Bee`s wrap in one of my favorite shops, Changemaker. And I am really happy that I had the possibility to buy the newest Oceans print version of Bee`s Wrap. Were they work with 1% for the Planet, so at least 1% of the sales goes into organizations supporting ocean conservancy, beach cleanups and water stewardship.
As I was looking through the homepage of Bee`s Wrap I also found their blog very interesting, but I don’t want to take credit for something they have written, so I will just leave you the link to see for yourself.

B Corporation:
When I was reading about Bee`s Wrap, I stumbled across the B Corporation certification. Apparently this is the only certification that measures a company`s entire social and environmental performance. They care about the impact that the company has on the workers, the community, the environment and the customers.
The vision of B Corporation is, that business is used as a force for good. They believe:
- That we must be the change we seek in the world.
- That all business ought to be conducted as if people and place mattered.
- That, through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.
- To do so requires that we act with the understanding that we are each dependent upon another and thus responsible for each other and future generations.

So I really hope, that I could inspire you to make little changes to a more sustainable choice about unnecessary plastic in your everyday life. I would like to hear about your changes if you aspire to do so write me in the comments. Me myself will release another Blogpost about the changes that I have made but also the difficulties that I struggle with on my daily routine.
On the official website of the B Corporation you can also see what kind of businesses in your country have achieved this certification. Maybe it is also a good thing to hold in consideration, what kind of impact the businesses around us have and how they influence us in our daily choices. I like that Ben ans Jerry`s is certificated by B Corperation because I love their ice cream and now I can be sure that they try to d their best.
So I wish you all the best, kind regards Naomi.
